Dr. Sitangshu
Chatterjee

MBBS · MD (Paediatrics) · Fellow in Neonatology

Every child who walks through that door deserves to be seen — not just examined.

"Medicine is science. But paediatrics is also patience, intuition, and the quiet promise you make to a parent."
Dr. Sitangshu Chatterjee, Child Specialist at The Kids Clinic, Durgapur
The Doctor Behind the Diagnosis

A physician who listens before he prescribes.

Dr. Sitangshu Chatterjee spent years studying not just paediatric medicine, but children — how they communicate discomfort before they have the words for it, how a mother's worry is itself clinical data, and how a diagnosis is only as good as the trust that precedes it.

Trained in neonatology and paediatric critical care, he brings a depth of clinical expertise that is rare in a city like Durgapur — and pairs it with a disarming calm that children and parents both feel from the first visit.

His philosophy is straightforward: prescribe only what is necessary, explain everything clearly, and never make a family feel rushed. It is a philosophy that has earned him a 5-star reputation across 33 reviews, and more importantly, the trust of hundreds of Durgapur families.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions parents ask
before the first visit.

Dr. Chatterjee sees patients from birth (including premature newborns) through adolescence up to 18 years of age. He has special expertise in neonatology for the first 28 days of life.
The clinic is open Monday to Saturday. Morning OPD: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Evening OPD: 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM. We recommend calling ahead at 93328 02828 to confirm availability.
Yes. Dr. Chatterjee holds a fellowship in neonatology and has managed neonatal jaundice, premature infant care, neonatal respiratory distress, and low-birth-weight infants. This is one of his primary areas of clinical strength.
Recurrent fever in children can have many causes — viral infections, urinary tract infections, occult bacteraemia, or less commonly, inflammatory conditions. If your child has fever more than 3 times in a month, or fever lasting more than 3 days, a paediatric evaluation is recommended.
Growth is assessed using WHO and IAP growth charts based on your child's age, weight, height, and head circumference. Regular well-child visits at The Kids Clinic allow Dr. Chatterjee to track your child's percentiles over time and identify any nutritional or developmental concerns early.
Dr. Chatterjee follows the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) immunisation schedule. Starting from birth (BCG, Hepatitis B, OPV), vaccines continue at 6, 10, 14 weeks, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15–18 months, and beyond. A detailed schedule is provided during your child's first visit.
Neonatal jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes) is common in newborns, appearing between day 2–5. Mild physiological jaundice often resolves on its own with adequate feeding, but moderate to severe jaundice requires assessment of serum bilirubin levels and may need phototherapy. Please bring your newborn to Dr. Chatterjee for immediate evaluation if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, especially in the first week.
Occasional stomach pain in children is usually not alarming. However, pain that is persistent, wakes the child at night, is associated with vomiting or blood in stool, causes weight loss, or recurs over weeks requires paediatric evaluation. Conditions like constipation, intestinal infections, appendicitis, or inflammatory bowel disease may present this way.
Yes. Dr. Chatterjee manages paediatric asthma, allergic rhinitis, skin allergies (atopic dermatitis), and food intolerances. He provides inhaler training for parents, allergy trigger counselling, and evidence-based management plans tailored to each child's severity.
No referral is required. You can call 93328 02828 directly to book a consultation. Walk-ins are also accepted during clinic hours, subject to availability.
Absolutely. Dr. Chatterjee welcomes second-opinion consultations. Please bring all previous medical records, test reports, and prescriptions to the appointment so he can review the complete clinical picture.
Please bring your child's previous vaccination records, any prior medical reports or prescriptions, and a note of any symptoms you have observed. For newborns, bring the hospital discharge summary. The more information Dr. Chatterjee has, the more complete the care he can provide.
